The 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Crowdsourcing Campaign was conducted on behalf of the Department of Defense Board on Diversity and Inclusion to solicit recommendations directly from the force on perceived challenges to diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the military as well as recommendations on how to improve D&I in the military. The Crowdsourcing Campaign was administered between 17 August and 16 October 2020. Results indicated respondents primarily provided recommendations consistent with the focus areas the Board considered during the course of its mission, including recommendations on recruitment and accessions; retention; barriers; career development; organizational climate; and culture, worldview, and identity. However, respondents varied in their specificity when providing their recommendations and whether they regarded D&I as a problem in the military, particularly by race/ethnicity. Implications of findings and future directions are discussed.
