In addition to survey items (i.e., demographics, retention, satisfaction, tempo, stress, and readiness) used in all Status of Forces Surveys (SOFS), the 2014 SOFS-R included items on deployments since September 11, 2001, Military OneSource, and general financial health. Items on the following topics were also included: detailed retention, impact of activation on employment, detailed readiness, organizational culture, family life, financial impact of activations/deployments, activations/deployments/demobilization, training and equipment, and safety. Hot-button items were also included as requested by Reserve Affairs (Readiness, Training, and Mobilization) to evaluate Reserve component members' interest in a variety of potential participation requirements and activation/deployment scenarios.
