The 2011 Regional Proficiency Survey was a one-time data collection to support the Defense Language and National Security Education Office's (DLNSEO's) development of tools to track and manage regional proficiency capabilities in the force as specified in DoD Instruction 5160.70, "Management of DoD Language and Regional Proficiency Capabilities." The results of the survey will be used to assemble experiential information for the validation of a Regional Proficiency Assessment Tool that will allow Services to assign regional proficiency ratings and record them in personnel files. Availability of this information will enable quick sorts to rapidly identify personnel with rated proficiencies in given regions.
